A WOMAN'S GUIDE TO FAITH
(Engaging through the common truths found in the Bible)
A famous scripture for the women is Proverbs 31:30 which states, ‘Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.’ This scripture highlights the power of women’s faith in the Lord and emphasizing on the result of faith over beauty.
Similarly, the Bible instructs the women to express their faith through some ways which God really likes and wants. For example:
2. Obedience to God's commands: Just like
Mary who willingly complied with God’s word to carry Jesus in her womb (Luke 1:38),
women are required to submit to god’s word and live as required by him.
3. Serving others with love: The Bible
teaches that women should show love and compassion to others, as exemplified by
the Proverbs 31 woman who cared for her family and extended kindness to those
in need (Proverbs 31:20).
4. Seeking wisdom and guidance from God: Similar to the case where
the ‘wise woman’ of Tekoa goes to seek the counsel of God in 2 Samuel 14; 2:
Ephesians 5:25, women are advised and encouraged to seek insight and guidance
from God on issues that they are facing especially when making choices.
5. Supporting and encouraging fellow believers:
This is built on the fact that based on The Acts 18:24-26 women are supposed to
encourage and instruct one another as it was done primarily by Priscilla and
Aquilla who taught Apollos on Christianity.
Also there is a tiny story about a woman OLIVIA…
Who had unwavering faith and belief in God but was experiencing loneliness and rejection from her very own family. During a period of deep loneliness. Being a lonely and helpless woman she begins to pray and finds help in verses from the Holy Scripture. Even though Olivia was lonely and alone she did not lose her faith but was even more confident that even if she is in the desert, God will be with her.
One day, Olivia let out her heart’s desire to God, prayed
constantly and felt a sense of peace and assurance wash over her. The scripture
that came to her mind then was Psalm 23:4: “Though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for You are with me: Your rod and Your
staff, they comfort me.” These
words gave Olivia the strength to go on alongside and in that moment of vulnerability,
God's presence and love sustained her, reminding her that she was never truly
alone.
Similarly, in our daily lives we go through loneliness, rejection & many obstacles mentally, physically & in many ways…. but what are we doing during the difficulty phase?
Let’s examine ourselves once..We see
Olivia seeks God when she was lonely and helpless and gets comfort in the
prayer and through the scriptures from the Bible.
